Description

Book Description

This book presents a detailed study on the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel achiral bent-core liquid crystals based on a four-ring benzene framework. It explores how structural modifications such as polar and non-polar substituents affect mesophase behavior, chirality and photophysical properties. Combining synthetic strategies with experimental techniques like DSC, POM, and X-ray diffraction, the book offers valuable insights into structure–property relationships in bent-core mesogens, making it a useful resource for researchers and students in materials science and liquid crystal research.

The Author

Dr. Rahul Kanti Nath (b. 20 September 1981) is an accomplished academic and researcher in the field of Chemistry. He obtained his M.Sc. in Chemistry from Assam University, Silchar, in 2004 and went on to earn his Ph.D. from the same university in 2011, specializing in the synthesis and study of novel liquid crystalline materials. With a keen interest in molecular design and materials chemistry, Dr. Nath has published six research papers in reputed international journals and contributed two chapters to edited academic books. His research focuses on liquid crystals, especially bent-core mesogens, and their structural and functional properties. Since May 2017, Dr. Nath has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Cachar College, Silchar, where he is actively engaged in teaching, mentoring, and scientific exploration. His work reflects a strong commitment to academic excellence and the advancement of chemical science in both research and education.
